1. Port-Log Overview

Welcome to the Port-Log User Guide.

Port-Log is OceanWise Ltd.'s complete solution for the receipt, storage, visualisation and dissemination of all types of environmental monitoring data.

It is independent of sensor types and manufacturers - i.e. environmental data from almost any source can be received and displayed. Diagnostic-based parameters can also be displayed, including power/battery levels and GPRS signal strength, which can be used to diagnose potential issues before they arise both locally and remotely where possible, reducing system down-time.

Port-Log allows for instant access of real-time and historical environmental data, and is used by a large number of ports and harbours globally. All data is stored in the Ocean Database (ODB) and can be easily downloaded for further analysis.

Depending on your individual organsiational requirement, the pages can be securely hidden behind a login or certain pages can be open-access - entirely dependent upon your organisations security requirements. Logins can have three different privelege level assigned - User, Editor and Admin. See User Authentication for further details.

This user guide is split into sections which reflect the different components of the Port-Log web interface -

The Map provides a geographical representation of where each site/cluster is located, the parameter(s) measured at sight and the validity of the data being collected there currently.

The Latest display shows the latest data from all sites and all parameters within the system.

The History display allows the user to access, download and perform QA/QC on the data.

The System (if available) provides the user with the tools to change which sites are active within the system, edit details pertaining to the sites and add calibrations or QA/QC rules to the datasets.
